Standard morning in the office (Located here & called the Senmao Building), but for lunch, Winson and I did something crazy. We walked over to a Pizza Hut (actually the one way over behind my hotel at a place called “Victory Square” – see here). The interior was very large (about 3 times the size of the largest Pizza Hut back in the States. It was all very new, and decorated to a level considerably above the norm. It had a very western-feel – like a nice steak place. The menu had the same offerings as the US, with a number of additions – frosted fruit drinks, and a strange mix of Chinese dishes on noodles. We went, of course, for the greatest pizza – the Hawaiian (pineapple and Canadian bacon). I also chose it to be deep dish style. It tasted just like a pizza back in the states, and for a 12” pizza that we split, the cost was comparable to home – about $10. Winson had a meeting to get back to, so we took a taxi back to the office.
The afternoon was uneventful, with me returning to the hotel around 6:00pm to await my friend Mike’s arrival. He finally made it to the hotel around 8:00pm with a similar sleeping experience to my first trip – too excited the night before to sleep well, and didn’t sleep much on the plane. He was pretty wiped out, but agreed to a quick dinner in the hotel. We each had the tuna sandwich with a sprite and called it a night.
